Katydid is the daughter of the great Art Deco, shown below to the left, who in 2004 stood third in the rankings of Top Producing Sires of Dressage Horses. Art Deco is a Dutch import who is registered Oldenburg. Katy's full brother, the popular Hall of Fame, is also a consistent producer and falls in the top twenty on the dressage list.

"She clones herself," Hilda Guerney said of Katydid at the 1998 Sports Horse Seminar in Colorado where she ranked Katydid as champion of the horses in show there, placing her son, Patriot, as reserve. Katy certainly stamps herself on her offspring, giving them bone, size, and wonderful gaits.

Katydid has been only lightly shown. On her first and only outing to a recognized show (other than Devon where as a foal she was second in her class), to Dressage in the Rockies in Parker, Colorado, she was reserve high point of the dressage show and reserve champion in the breed.

While her father was moved to the Oldenburg registry, Katy is carried in the Dutch Auxilliary Studbook. This made her ineligible to stand for the star rankings, but she won her kuring over mares who were eligible, taking a First Premium. Her foals, of course, are in the main foalbook.
